NATIONAL PERFORMANCE
VAMOS PRA COSTA? – Núcleo da Tribo (Itacaré/BA)
Three fishermen-dancers on stage describe their roles in the artisanal fishing that takes place between October and March on the coast of Bahia, in the city of Itacaré/BA. Based on their experiences, we can learn a little more about fishing in Costa: the relationship of hierarchy and trust, the power of visibility, the specificity of each body in carrying out a certain action, temporalities.
A multiple space for exchange, people from different regions meet to carry out artisanal fishing. Food, meetings, disputes, survival, experience, all together. But without fish there is no canoe in the ocean, without fish there is no well-sewn net, without fish there is no fishermen, without fish there is no story.

Núcleo da Tribo
Núcleo da Tribo is made up of capoeira dancers. In 2008, the group began studies related to the dialogue with contemporary dance, through shows and urban interventions. These investigations began precisely with Verusya Correia, a doctoral student and Master of the Postgraduate Program in Dance at UFBA. In recent years, we have produced three contemporary dance shows: Os filhos os contos, Vamos pra costa? and Toque de guerra; the workshop Da Totalidade ao Vamos pra costa?; two filmed dances (Vamos pra costa? and Samba que Soma) and artistic interventions. All of these scenic investigations were based on analyses of the local context, reports of the experiences lived by residents of the Porto de Trás neighborhood – Quilombo Urbano. Giving visibility to the ways of organizing and composing poetics related to everyday life, the black bodies of residents of the Porto de Trás, in the city of Itacaré/BA. Her research focuses on the relationship between dance, the city and the black body.
