ÁGUA DE MORINGA

PERFORMANCE

ÁGUA DE MORINGA - Sôanne Marry (Ilhéus/BA)

Água de Moringa is an expression of faith, symbolizing the purification of the soul through baths and blessings, practices deeply rooted in healing traditions and still widely recognized in many places. To break it down choreographically, the performance unfolds in three moments: the expression of faith through leaf baths, unconditional love between human beings, and purification through the blessings of women of faith. Water, one of the four essential elements of nature, is central to this theme, highlighting its life-giving force and its endangerment due to human actions.

Faith is expressed in the pilgrimage, in the weaving of a patchwork quilt where the dancers engage in gentle movements, accompanied by the poem Senhor do Tempo. This is a moment of celebration, where the body’s movements translate faith and hope. A key aspect of this dance is that the audience is invited to interpret the movements in their own way, based on their personal understanding and experiences of life.
