Looking for survival strategies in the desert.<\/p>\n

At a time of inevitable global warming, climate emergencies and possible rises in sea levels, we are faced with uncertainty on our beaches and occupying the sands increasingly seems like a practice of resistance. Added to this, there are so many light stimuli to which we are subjected and which continually monitor us – projectors, cell phone screens, televisions and surveillance cameras – and so many state and social machinery to which we must adapt, that our possibilities of resisting seem increasingly obfuscated. Where would our power of imagination be? Even if small, defeated, our tiny efforts make our way of imagining a condition for our way of doing politics. \u201cImagination is political\u201d, said Didi-Huberman (2011) in \u201cThe Survival of the Fireflies\u201d. Imagination as a producer of images to organize our pessimism, protest against the totalizing beams of light and make the fireflies, the small points of hope, share their desires and resist. <\/p>\n

Matias Santiago is a teacher, dancer, choreographer and cultural manager. He holds a PhD in Dance from PPGDan\u00e7a-UFBA, is an Arts Professor at Rede Municipal de Educa\u00e7\u00e3o de Salvador, a Professor of the undergraduate course in Dance in the distance learning modality at UFBA and is the Artistic Director of Bal\u00e9 Jovem de Salvador. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
